.COD files?

Okay guys...So I recently got a blackberry storm.  I obviously wanna get music, useful apps, and some games for when you're say on an airplane...or any time when you are bored.  I really wanted icy tower, so i googled and found this site.  Now I already installed the .acl file but i couldn't select my language and it was a 1/4 of the screen, specifically the top left corner.  I thought it might have to do with the .cod file I didn't know what to do with.  So what are .cod files, how do i install them, and is icytower mobile compatible with the storm?

Ok so first when you have a folder with a .cod and .alx file you need to install this type of file using your application loader which is part of the desktop manager that came with your software cd. An OTA download is a .jad file that installs on your device without using the application loader. There are not too many of those on here. A .jar file installs by saving the file to your phone then funding the file and clicking on it to install. Alright second you need to make sure the game or app is compatable with your device the game you downloaded was not specifically for a storm device. Your model is probably the 9530. So when using this site look for games and apps that say Storm or 9500 9530. The reason why the other game dif not work because it sounds like it was for the 8100/Pearl devices so the game might run but since the two devices has different screen resolutions it will not fit your screen properly. You can however run some games and apps in Compatabilty mode on your device if it was not specific to your device but not all match the resolution. You should look into what is .jar and .jad file and ota install. And also blackberry desktop manager and application loader to start off just to get familiar with your device from here you will learn the basics and get to more understand the blackberry platform and how it works. Feel free to ask questions along the way if you need help as there are a lot of helpful users on this site that know a lot about blackberry.

If there are only .cod and a .jad files, how do you put and install a .jad file on your phone?  Any input would be appreciated, thanks.

I've installed a few apps in this format.

Basically attach the phone to your PC and make sure Make sure Mass Storage Mode is on
under options >> memory

The phone will read like a normal USB Hdd.
Copy the .jad / .cod package to any folder on your phone.

Open Media, Push the Blackberry button (left of the touchpad) and select explore.

Browse to where you copied the .cod / .jad package and click on the .jad file to install.

Alternatively you can make a .alx file for you .cod file/s
open notepad and type the following html code.

<loader version="1.0">
<application id="Game Name/ID">
<name>Game Name</name>
<description>ALXmake V1.0 make</description>
<version>0</version>
<vendor>ALXmake</vendor>
<copyright>Copyright Ubisosf</copyright>
<fileset Java="1.25">
<directory />
<files>
Game Cod file1.cod
Game Cod file 2.cod (if you have more than one .cod file)
</files>
</fileset>
</application>
</loader>

Save as Game name.alx
type "All files"

Make sure your .alx and .cod files are in the same directory then install using desktop manager.

Open application loader >> Under Load/Delete applications click start >> Click Browse
Browse to where you extracted or copied the .alx/.cod package >>
Click next >> Click finish

Done it this way many times as well

you can also enter the copyright and version as shown if you want.
