How To - Remove and re-add service books
This applies to the following: - BlackBerry Desktop Software

- BES
Procedure
To remove and re-add service books while your BlackBerry device is connected to your personal computer, complete the following steps: - In BlackBerry Desktop Manager, open Backup and Restore and click Advanced.
- From the Device Databases list, select Service Book and click Clear.
- When the warning appears, click OK and close the Backup and Restore window.
- Disconnect your BlackBerry device and perform a hard reset. If you don't know the hard reset keys, remove battery and then re-insert.
- When your BlackBerry device has been reset, reconnect your BlackBerry device to your personal computer.
- In BlackBerry Desktop Manager, open Redirector Settings and click the Security tab.
- Select the Generate keys manually check box and move your mouse randomly to generate a new encryption key.The service books are pushed to your BlackBerry device.
- When this is complete, click Apply on the Redirector Settings window.
- When the Status field shows Up to date, generate two more keys manually. Make sure to click Apply after you generate each key.When the warning appears stating that a key has been created in the last 24 hours, click YES.
- When this is complete, select the Generate keys automatically check box and click OK.
- Disconnect your BlackBerry device and send a test message to yourself from your BlackBerry Device.
To remove and re-add service books while your BlackBerry device is not connected to your personal computer, complete the following steps:
Note: The BlackBerry device user must be on a BlackBerry Enterprise Server in order to perform this wirelessly. - On your BlackBerry device Home screen, click Options.
- Select Service Book.Depending on the BlackBerry Device Software version running on your BlackBerry device, you may need to select Advanced Options, then Service Book.
- Select the BlackBerry [SYNC] service book, click the trackwheel, and select Delete.Depending on the BlackBerry Device Software version running on your BlackBerry device, you may need to select the Desktop [SYNC] service book.
- Request a wireless enterprise activation password from your system administrator.
- On your BlackBerry device Home screen, click Options.
- Click the trackwheel and select Enterprise Activate.
- Type your email address and the password provided by your system administrator.
- When the enterprise activation is complete, send a test message to yourself from your BlackBerry device.
