While upgrading from a previously installed version of Desktop Manager, the following error appears in InstallShield:
Error 1316.
Cause
InstallShield is using the installation files from the previous version of Desktop Manager.
Resolution 1
Uninstall the previous version of the Desktop Manager and install the new version. You can uninstall the previous version with either Add/Remove Programs or the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility.
Note: Try Add/Remove Programs first. If the Desktop Manager does not appear in the Add/Remove Programs list or if the program does not uninstall properly, try the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility.
To uninstall Desktop Manager with Add/Remove Programs
- Close BlackBerry Desktop Manager.
- Open the Control Panel and double-click Add/Remove Programs.
- Select BlackBerry Desktop Software and click Change/Remove.
- In the InstallShield Wizard window, click Remove and Next.
- In the Confirm Uninstall window, click OK.
- In the InstallShield Wizard window, click Finish.
To uninstall Desktop Manager with the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility
- Download the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility from the Microsoft Help and Support site.
- Install the utility on the personal computer.
- Run the utility.
- Find and select the previous installation of Desktop Manager in the list of programs.
- Click Clear.
Resolution 2
Rename the InstallShield folder, and reinstall Desktop Manager.
- Go to C:\Program Files\Common Files\
- Right-click the InstallShield folder and select Rename.
- Rename the folder InstallShield_old.
- Install Desktop Manager.
