A large US spy satellite has gone out of control and is xpected to crash down to earth some time in late February or early March, a government source has said. Officialls speaking on condition of anonymity said the satellite had lost power and propolsion and also could contain hazardous materials.
The White House said it was monitoring the situation and a spokesman said that numerous satellites had come out of orbit and fallen back to earth harmlessly over a period of years.
Remarks like this really make us all feel perfectly safe, in our beds at night, knowing that the Powers that be are 'monitoring the situation' and that 'numerous satellites' fall to earth all the time. NOT !! Just don't be too alarmed if you go out in your back garden one day and find a piece of satellite where your barbeque used to be.
